Paediatric Infectious Diseases Department is the largest of its kind in London, delivering both elective and non-elective activity at local, secondary, and tertiary levels. This internationally renowned, academically led service includes clinics for HIV, TB, Hepatitis, congenital infections, complex infections, vaccine advice, auto-inflammatory fever syndromes, recurrent infections, and Kawasaki’s disease. It provides specialist input to neonatal and paediatric intensive care units and is responsible for paediatric antibiotic policies and antimicrobial stewardship. The service is an NHSE-commissioned centre for airborne and contact High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCID).

This NHS post aims to strengthen the resilience of the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Team, currently heavily reliant on academic support. It will enable more effective support for paediatric and neonatal services within the West London Children’s Alliance and across NW London ICB. The postholder will join the acute rota, covering wards and providing advice for WLCH and external consults, and lead neonatal and perinatal infections, working closely with the NW Perinatal Network and IPC team.
