Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Child Health invite applications for a 10 PA Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases based at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Applications are welcome from those interested in full-time, part-time, or job share arrangements.
This role offers the opportunity to join an integrated infectious disease service and develop new services, including infection management in immunocompromised hosts, aligning with the upcoming GOSH Children's Cancer Centre (opening in 2028). The post also involves implementing a new vaccine service and expanding antimicrobial stewardship.
The department handles over 3,500 patient episodes annually, with referrals from North Central and North East London and Southern England. The inpatient ward (Pelican Ward) shares facilities with rheumatology, dermatology, immunology, and BMT, featuring Hepa-filtered cubicles and negative pressure isolation rooms. Close collaboration exists with immunology, BMT, microbiology, virology, and infection prevention teams.
This is a full-time (10 PA) substantive consultant role. The postholder will contribute to inpatient ID services, working closely with Dr Bamford and Dr Kadambari. The role requires presence at GOSH for 42 weeks annually, with 10 weeks allocated for leave.
