Job description

Are you an experienced Site Management professional with a background in delivering high-value civil engineering and structural works? Consider making your mark on HMP Glasgow, one of Scotland's largest construction projects, located approximately 10 miles North East of Glasgow city center. We offer an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager to join our team.

This role involves delivering a modern, new-build custodial facility that is secure, energy-efficient, and designed to accommodate 200 inmates and staff.

Contract:

Permanent, full-time

What will you be responsible for?

Joining the project early, the Site Manager will initially oversee advanced works packages before progressing to main construction activities, including the erection of five DFMA houseblocks, large ancillary buildings, sports pitches, and external landscaping. Your responsibilities may include:

  1. Managing and directing subcontractors to deliver work packages such as earthworks, drainage, structural framing, roofing, cladding, and interior fit-outs, ensuring safety at all times.
  2. Checking subcontractor work to ensure it aligns with project timelines, design specifications, and quality standards.
  3. Reviewing risk assessments and method statements from subcontractors for safety and appropriateness.
  4. Conducting toolbox talks and site inductions to ensure compliance with Kier standards.
  5. Coordinating site logistics, including plant and labor movement, maintaining safety protocols.
  6. Reporting issues or delays to the site/project manager.
  7. Creating and maintaining accurate site reports and documentation.
  8. Collaborating with the wider project team to resolve challenges effectively.
Who are we looking for?
  • Experience managing major civil and structural work packages within a main contracting environment.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety on site.
  • Ability to manage supply chain quality standards.
  • Proven ability to oversee large work packages on a busy site.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Relevant construction qualification (HND/Degree/SVQ) or technical trade qualification.
  • SMSTS 5-day certification.
  • CSCS Card.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Full UK driving license.
