Job Description: Water and Wastewater Testing Technician

Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance, and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. Our team brings over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure, focusing on problem-solving.

This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programs aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?

• Conduct UN testing to confirm the integrity and quality of newly installed or unknown-condition water pipes before connection to the live network.
• Perform EUSR-compliant chlorination and disinfection in accordance with the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations and BS EN 805/BS 8558.
• Carry out hydrostatic pressure testing of water mains and services to verify they meet design pressure requirements, are free of leaks, and record all test results clearly, including pressure readings, chlorine levels, and pass/fail status.
• Work with planners, repair teams, and supervisors to coordinate site access and test schedules, ensuring health and safety protocols are followed, including PPE use and proper lifting techniques.
• Maintain tools and testing equipment in good working order and prepare Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) for all site work.

What you’ll bring

• Hold a valid EUSR Water Hygiene Card.
• Proven experience in chlorination, disinfection, and pressure testing of water mains.
• Good understanding of UN testing requirements and industry regulations such as BS EN 805 and BS 8558.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a methodical working style.
• Valid UK driving license.
