Our Design Team:

The Onshore team manages infrastructure and renewable energy projects across Ireland and the UK, including Windfarms, Solar Farms, Substations, Battery Storage Sites, and Road schemes.

Role Description:

This role supports our growing Infrastructure Engineering design activities. Ideally based in Cork, but open to candidates across Ireland and the UK. The role is primarily office-based, involving project leadership, analysis, design activities, and supervision of project and graduate engineers.

You will be responsible for carrying out or reviewing civil designs, specifications, and RC detailing packages, leading or collaborating on structural design and report production. Site inspections and supervision may also be required.

  • Project and client management

  • Temporary Works design

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Project management and client liaison
  • Design and delivery of civil packages (earthworks, drainage, roads, foundations)
  • Management and mentoring of engineers
  • Collaboration with CAD and GIS specialists
  • Quality assurance of reports, drawings, calculations, software outputs
  • Design risk management
  • Support to other sectors within GDG
  • Contract management
  • Bid preparation and business development

Expertise Required:

Candidates should have a strong civil design background, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering and at least 3 years relevant experience. Additional qualifications include:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body
  • Experience with onshore wind, roads, environmental, and infrastructure projects
  • Experience in civil/structural design of renewable projects
  • Knowledge of safety legislation
  • Construction experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with civil/structural software (Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, Midas, Tedds) is preferable
  • Basic understanding of geotechnical engineering
  • Project and team management experience

Education/Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Additional Requirements:

  • Highly organized, motivated, with effective communication skills, good work ethic, and commitment to professional development
  • Full Driving License
