SMC-Design is looking for a talented and experienced Creative Designer to join our London studio.

About Us

At SMC, we work on high-end marine interior design projects, liaising with suppliers and working to a client’s needs and aspirations. Experience in delivering drawing and detail packages for large-scale commercial projects (e.g., hotels/cruise ships) is essential, as well as impeccable organisational, research, and communication skills. Experience or a background in commercial, retail, and hospitality design would be a definite bonus.

Qualifications

You should be educated to a relevant degree or diploma level with 6+ years’ post-graduate experience. Applicable knowledge of creative design methodologies and processes is necessary.

Experience & Skills

• Strong evidence of hospitality/retail design experience.
• Minimum of 6+ years relevant experience.
• Proven ability to lead designs from inception to completion, demonstrating exceptional design skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Portfolio evidence of successful project completion, idea development, and execution, with relevant narratives to justify designs.
• Expertise in concept layout, creativity, and adherence to SMC brand ideals.
• Ability to create and develop conceptual designs, including the use of colour and texture.
• Fluent experience with CAD software in 2D and 3D; knowledge of Vectorworks is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, SketchUp, and MS Office.
• Knowledge of FF&E selection, including materials, finishes, detailing, and scheduling.
• Self-confident, receptive to feedback, and able to manage time and workflows efficiently.
• Exceptional attention to detail and creative plan generation using sketches and CAD software.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
