Duties And Responsibilities
The Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications by designing, executing, and maintaining test cases to identify defects and validate requirements.
This role plays an essential part of the success of the business by ensuring that the company continues to deliver robust, innovative and commercially viable products, to achieve the Companies objectives of growth and profitability.
The Test Engineer will execute responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Execute test plans and test cases, ensuring software meets functional and non-functional requirements.
- Identify, document, and report software defects, tracking them to resolution.
- Perform regression, system, integration, and user acceptance testing as required.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Maintain and update test documentation, including test cases, scripts, and logs.
- Contribute to test automation efforts by creating and executing automated test scripts.
- Actively participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Support defect tracking processes and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Health, Safety, And Environment (HSE) Responsibilities
- Report incidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately and participate in investigations when required.
- Participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and audits.
- Perform work responsibly, considering environmental, social, and economic factors.
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, procedures, and practices.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working across multiple software products.
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge and experience of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Proficient in testing methodologies and principles, with the ability to create and execute software test plans.
- Skilled in using applicable software tools relevant to testing and Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective time and resource management skills.
- Adaptable to changing business environments and requirements, with a focus on understanding business needs.
Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB Foundation Level) is desirable.
Experience
Proven experience in software testing, including manual and automated testing practices.
- Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks, such as playwright, cyprus, robot framework or equivalent.
- Experience working within Agile or other iterative software development methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of test automation development or script execution.
- Exposure to defect tracking and reporting systems such as Azure devops, Jira or Bugzilla.
