Job description

Job summary

We are seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, and professional Biomedical Scientist to work across all areas of the University Hospitals Haematology & Transfusion department within the Derriford Combined Laboratory.

Our laboratory is about to undertake exciting projects, including a new lab build, where staff input will be crucial to shaping the future of our service.

We primarily require suitably qualified, HCPC-Registered Biomedical Scientists who have completed their Specialist Portfolio and possess advanced technical skills and knowledge in Haematology disciplines. Proven specialist knowledge of Blood Bank, Haematology, and Coagulation is essential. Experience with accreditation processes in blood sciences would be advantageous.

The department operates a 24/7 service supported by rotas, which include additional payments.

Applications may be considered from Band 5 Biomedical Scientists with post-HCPC registration experience in a hospital laboratory and who are working towards their Specialist Portfolio. Please discuss further, as this would involve an Annex 21 pay arrangement during portfolio completion. The portfolio is expected to be completed within 2 years; failure to do so may result in regrading to Band 5.

For informal visits or further information, please contact Sharon Monk at sharonmonk@nhs.net.
