Manufacturing Engineer (CNC / Engineering)

Salary: Up to GBP60,000 DOE
Job Description
- Coordinate NPI projects and processes, engaging with all departments, customers, and suppliers.
- Provide manufacturing engineering expertise in CNC Milling and Turning capabilities up to 5 axes.
- Project manage, taking responsibility for coordinating NPI manufacturing projects, including stage gate reviews and working with senior stakeholders to ensure timely delivery within set goals.
- Utilize high-level technical and practical machining experience to plan, design, optimize, and productionize manufacturing processes.
- Engineer from one-off products to mass-produced parts.
- Quickly turn quotations within service level guidelines while maintaining good relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Future-proof operations to reduce cycle times and increase throughput.
- Improve business OEE and engineering KPIs.
- Write and deploy SOPs.
- Perform offline programming; familiarity with VISI CAM is highly desirable.
- Reduce manufacturing costs using Lean tools.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring adherence to company and legal standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and all NPI activities.
Effectively plan, communicate, liaise, and collaborate with customers and subcontractors.
Key Accountabilities
- Build relationships within the NPI program team and assist in marketing the NPI process to customers.
- Identify cost containment opportunities and areas for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to key quality goals such as Customer Satisfaction, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, and Process Quality.
- Set up production trials in preparation for mass production.
- Ensure supply chain and operational readiness, including master data setup, BOMs, routings, and raw materials availability.
- Manage NPI projects within budget, considering manufacturing costs, capex needs, and line run rates.
- Act as the main customer contact, providing updates and guiding NPI decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager to meet daily targets.
- Support team members with engineering issues, delivering optimal solutions.
- Quote, program, and engineer products through the business.
- Implement changes, acting as a champion for continuous improvement.
- Apply Lean manufacturing tools, including 5S, across the business.
- Maintain excellent communication and integration with operators and internal teams.
- Engage with internal communication boards such as SQCPD.
- Support operational issues to ensure machines run smoothly and products conform to standards.
