1) Exercise of general professional duties
A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require:
2) Exercise of particular duties
(a) A teacher (other than a principal) shall perform, according to directions from the principal, such particular duties as may be reasonably assigned.
(b) A teacher employed under paragraph 1(b) shall perform, as directed, duties assigned by the board or the principal of any school where he/she works.
3. Planning
1.1 Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
1.2 Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work;
1.3 Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' development, progress, and attainment.
4. General
4.1 Promoting the progress and well-being of pupils;
4.2 Providing advice and guidance on educational and social matters and future careers;
4.3 Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs;
4.4 Communicating with parents and external bodies;
4.5 Participating in meetings related to these activities.
5. Assessment/Reporting
Providing assessments, reports, and references on pupils, avoiding conflicts of interest.
6. Staff Development/Professional Development
6.1 Participating in staff development schemes;
6.2 Reviewing teaching methods and participating in training;
6.3 Assisting in course development and assessment methods.
7. Discipline/Health and Safety
Maintaining discipline and safety in accordance with policies, and participating in related meetings.
8. Public Examinations
Preparing pupils for exams, assessing, and participating in examination arrangements.
9. Management and Administration
Contributing to staff recruitment, managing other teachers, and participating in curriculum and organizational activities.
10. Working Days/Hours
Full-time teachers are available for 195 days/year, with specific weekly hours and breaks outlined, including provisions for supervision and attendance.
11. Staff Cover
Supervising pupils during teacher absences, with specific conditions based on school size and teacher role.
