Production Roaster

THE ROLE

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Production Roaster to join our team. As a key member of the roastery, you will assist in various stages of coffee production, from sourcing and roasting to packaging and order fulfilment. Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with green coffee suppliers to order high-quality green coffee inventory
• Creating and optimising roasting profiles for various blends and single-origin coffees
• Assisting with the development of new coffee recipes and blends to meet customer demands
• Roasting and fulfilling customer orders while ensuring quality control standards are met
• De-stoning roasted coffee to ensure product integrity
• Assisting in bagging and sealing roasted coffee in preparation for delivery
• Sampling, roasting, and cupping new coffees to assess quality and flavour profiles
• Assisting with the timely delivery of coffee orders
• Managing the ordering and receiving of raw materials and finished goods
• Utilising Cropster software for roasting, scheduling, and order management
• Organising and maintaining the roastery workspace to ensure a clean and efficient environment
• Keeping accurate inventory records for both green coffee and roasted products
• Cleaning, protecting, and maintaining all roasting equipment to ensure longevity and performance
• Managing and organising the roasting schedule to meet production goals and deadlines

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who shares our passion for quality coffee and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 12 months of experience in coffee roasting, with a focus on consistency and quality
• Familiarity with various types of roasting machines and their operation
• A minimum of 1 year of barista experience, with knowledge of coffee preparation techniques
• SCA education (Speciality Coffee Association) preferred, but not required
• Understanding of food safety practices in coffee production
• Experience with Cropster Roasting Intelligence software, or similar roasting software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• A self-starter attitude with a creative and proactive approach to staying productive
• A team-oriented mindset with a flexible, can-do attitude
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
• A genuine interest in speciality coffee and the ambition to grow within a dynamic company
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and leadership
• A willingness to go above and beyond to meet and exceed expectations
