Job description

About The Role

Leeds Sixth Form College is looking for two outstanding Coaches to join our pastoral team. You will be responsible for a caseload of students who need coaching as part of their planned learning programme, as well as delivering tutorials to student groups.

Leeds Sixth Form College prides itself on its students’ journeys to success. It is driven by hard work and the strong belief that every student has the capacity to excel, regardless of their background. We offer a range of A-level, vocational, and GCSE subjects and are committed to providing an exceptional experience with matching outcomes.

What You Will Do
  1. You will track and monitor progress towards achievement using assessment grades in ProMonitor markbooks, ensuring learner progress is tracked against their target grades and be responsible for achieving student outcomes.
  2. Assist with initial, diagnostic, and formative assessment and provide support for students with their learning, using online support technology and education platforms.
  3. Identify where students require intervention and convene small groups of students to work on specific topics related to their course, facilitating learning through effective coaching and mentoring techniques.
  4. Identify barriers to learning and implement strategies to overcome them, develop individual learning plans, set SMART targets, and liaise with subject specialists and support staff.
  5. Keep confidential records, provide reports and statistical data, support the use of technology for online learning, and manage learning in various spaces to create a positive experience.
About You
  1. Good organisational skills, able to prioritise work and meet deadlines, using initiative where needed.
  2. English and Maths at Level 2, with a commitment to achieving Level 3 within 2 years if not already achieved.
  3. Qualification in supporting teaching and learning, teaching assistant, or coaching, or a commitment to achieving it within 1 year of appointment.
  4. Sound subject knowledge, curriculum, and assessment frameworks, with experience working successfully with diverse student groups.
  5. Effective coaching skills and excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with students, staff, parents, and employers.
Benefits

Our staff enjoy numerous benefits, including:

  • Generous annual leave: at least 39 days for full-time staff, including bank holidays and closure days at Christmas.
  • Excellent pension schemes such as Teachers’ Pension and Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Memberships and discounts, including TOTUM card.
