I am currently recruiting for a leading Lloyd's Syndicate that is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their growing Casualty Treaty team.

My client is looking for an experienced Casualty Treaty Underwriter with 10+ years of experience, covering either International or US business, with a focus on the US market. This is a pure Syndicate role managing a book size of over $200m. The ideal candidate will have strong exposure, pricing knowledge, and a good understanding of the Casualty Reinsurance (RI) space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and implementation of the portfolio's business plan.
  • Participate in meetings to share insights, develop strategies, and promote best practices.
  • Advocate for the department and company to enhance brand presence.
  • Implement reinsurance strategies to protect the portfolio.
  • Conduct complex underwriting activities in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Follow underwriting standards, guidelines, and best practices to manage risk and improve efficiency.
  • Accurately record and assess insurance risks, including Delegated Underwriting Authorities (DUA), and revise policy wordings as needed.
  • Apply reinsurance requirements to mitigate risks and meet business targets.
  • Serve as a technical expert to identify issues and opportunities within your area of expertise.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, and partners to achieve business goals.
  • Support market associations and trade organizations.
  • Stay informed about market trends to enhance business performance.
  • Enhance technical knowledge through ongoing learning and development.
  • Underwrite complex risks aligned with the business plan and delegated authority, negotiating rates, terms, and conditions.
  • Review and analyze the portfolio to monitor progress toward objectives.
  • Ensure peer review of all business and compliance with underwriting standards and authority limits.
