Overall Purpose of the Role

The role is responsible for overseeing and reporting on the Operational Resilience framework, tools, and methodologies in line with regulatory requirements to support MUFG’s strategic objectives. This includes compliance with UK (FCA/PRA) and EU (DORA) regulations.

The role involves establishing collaborative relationships across MUFG entities in the UK and Europe, influencing senior management, and supporting the maturity of the Operational Resilience Framework. The role requires detailed knowledge of UK Operational Resilience policies and DORA, with experience in establishing such frameworks in financial institutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, embed, and manage the Operational Resilience framework and tools to meet regulatory standards.
  • Build awareness and understanding of Operational Resilience across the organization, including delivering training.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, supporting governance forums and ensuring documentation compliance.
  • Lead on operational resilience governance, including managing meetings, actions, and MI reports.
  • Ensure documentation such as policies, frameworks, procedures, and self-assessments are up to date.
  • Support change projects by assessing operational resilience impacts and providing assurance.
  • Coordinate the UK Operational Resilience Regulatory Self-Assessment and internal audits.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and conduct impact analyses.
  • Oversee inter-affiliate agreements related to operational resilience.
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • Detailed knowledge of Operational Resilience policies (March 2021) and EU DORA requirements.
  • Understanding of operational risk, business continuity, crisis management, and change management methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, risk resolution, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • No formal qualifications required; experience-based qualification preferred.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Contribute to team performance and compliance with governance policies.
  • Support the design and implementation of the operational resilience framework across regions.
  • Develop and execute objectives aligned with budgets and strategic goals.
  • Build relationships within the first, second, and third lines of defense to address weaknesses proactively.
  • Enhance staff training and provide regular updates on operational resilience initiatives.
