Job description

The Tax & Financial Accounting team is a global entity responsible for the preparation and filing of indirect and direct tax returns, statutory account filings, and treasury back office functions. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of service delivery within set timelines.

You will be an effective communicator, agile and flexible in building business relationships, with the ability to quickly establish strong connections. Understanding the organizational structure and operations is essential. You will provide accurate and timely financial information to key business partners, external stakeholders, and Group functions, working closely with them to understand their specific requirements.

This role is hybrid, based in our Colchester office.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation and review of VAT returns (UK and overseas)
2. Review of EC Sales lists and intrastate declarations
3. Review of balance sheet tax-related reconciliations by set deadlines
4. Assist with the review of annual PSA returns
5. Monitor VAT account postings, ensuring all journals are supported by appropriate documentation and correctly posted
6. Provide guidance to other teams within shared services and business divisions on new products, invoice complexities, and ad hoc queries
7. Assist with setting up new VAT registrations worldwide
8. Conduct system testing for new VAT rules and products as the VAT landscape evolves
9. Update systems for VAT rate changes, coordinating with system teams
10. Prepare and deliver VAT training to SSC teams and business divisions as needed
11. Lead and participate in VAT projects aimed at continuous improvement and long-term growth of the VAT team
