The Claims Handler at Arch International (UK) Insurance Company Limited is responsible for managing all Cyber claims generated by Arch managed syndicates and company platforms in the UK, with additional exposure in the US and EMEA regions.

Key duties include:

  • Handling claims associated with Arch International (UK) Insurance Ltd policies.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to junior team members.
  • Offering technical leadership on lead files within the London market.
  • Ensuring delivery of high-quality claims service through regular communication with claims managers and underwriters.
  • Assisting underwriters with underwriting strategy implementation.
  • Representing Cyber claims at events, client meetings, broker meetings, and internal meetings as required.
  • Managing service providers involved in claims processes daily.
  • Assisting in managing TPAs, including conducting annual audits.
  • Supporting coverage analysis and recovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Expertise

  • Handling claims within authority levels.
  • Adhering to reserving philosophies and ensuring accurate and consistent claims reserving.
  • Supporting underwriters on policy interpretation and wording issues.
  • Producing clear, concise reports such as Large Loss and Risk Alerts.
  • Preparing audit reports for compliance purposes.

2. Managing External Service Providers

  • Maintaining relationships with brokers, insureds, coverholders, and third-party providers.
  • Providing feedback on the performance of legal and loss adjusting experts, ensuring adherence to SLAs.
  • Influencing and negotiating effectively with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Auditing TPA performance.

3. Claims Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Contributing to departmental business goals and objectives.
  • Representing Arch International (UK) Insurance Ltd in the London market, including Lloyd’s and company platforms.
  • Leading market strategy when acting as a market lead, managing calls, meetings, and market expectations.
  • Delivering claims projects beyond daily operations.
  • Enhancing claims processes and procedures continually.

Skills / Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of London market Cyber insurance.
  • Knowledge of Professional Indemnity insurance is advantageous.
  • Experience with UK/US law and insurance regulations is beneficial.
  • Excellent coverage and policy interpretation skills.
  • Proven report writing abilities.
  • Clear and confident communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinking and results-oriented approach.
  • Strong influencing skills and decision-making capabilities.
  • Highly organized with multitasking skills.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs graded A-C, plus A-levels or a degree.
  • Qualified DIP CII or progressing towards qualification is advantageous.
  • Insurance claims industry experience.
  • Experience handling claims over £5m.
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing complex Cyber claims in the insurance market.
