A sector-leading manufacturer of complex metal solutions for the aerospace, defence, and energy sectors has a new vacancy for a Director of Engineering to join the business. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring engineering delivery capability and developing new products for the company's portfolio to support its continued expansion. Applicants should have a Mechanical Engineering background gained within a complex manufacturing environment and a proven track record in new product development.

Responsibilities:

1. Identify opportunities for new product development that will complement the current business portfolio for new and existing markets.
2. Lead research & development projects and strategic roadmaps.
3. Coach, develop, and mentor the team with a focus on upskilling and succession planning.
4. Develop company systems & procedures to ensure effective use of engineering resources.
5. Drive a continuous improvement ethos within the engineering team and across the company.
6. Develop long-term relationships with key customers.
7. Stay up-to-date with new technologies and emerging markets.
8. Collaborate with key stakeholders in Commercial to support product development.
9. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, striving to exceed customer expectations.
10. Support the new Bids & Proposal team.

The Person:

• Previous experience leading a large engineering team.
• A good understanding of the aerospace and/or defence sectors.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and professional membership.
• Proven track record of developing new products.
• An entrepreneurial approach to developing new systems, processes, and products.
• A hands-on approach with strong influencing and mentoring skills.
