Located at the heart of the Marches, the historic border countryside where England meets Wales, Herefordshire is one of the most rural counties in England. It offers beautiful, unspoilt countryside, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, historic parklands, the cathedral city of Hereford, and attractive market towns, providing an excellent quality of life.

Herefordshire Council has been working with partners to develop solutions to address Phosphate levels within the River Lugg/Wye Special Area of Conservation (SAC) to improve water quality and meet conservation targets.

The Council has independently developed pioneering solutions to improve water quality and facilitate nutrient-neutral development to meet housing needs.

One of our high-profile projects involves delivering integrated constructed wetlands for tertiary treatment of point source pollution at wastewater treatment works.

You will also work with other council teams to address the recently declared Climate and Ecological Emergency.
