We are looking for a Test Lead to join our team supporting the policy administration system in the Protection area of Royal London. The Test Lead will coordinate and manage planning for system and acceptance tests, ensuring the integrity of testing and acceptance activities, and coordinating their execution.

The role also involves providing authoritative advice and guidance on test approach, planning, and execution. The Test Lead will define and communicate the test strategy, manage all test processes—including test plans, resources, costs, timescales, deliverables, and traceability—and maintain client relationships.

About the role

1. Plan or oversee the planning of system and acceptance tests and coordinate the execution of these plans. Take responsibility for early lifecycle validation and verification.
2. Produce and approve testing deliverables and ensure achievement of testing milestones.
3. Coordinate all activities during each testing phase.
4. Collaborate with clients, third parties, users, and senior staff to agree on the testing strategy, maintaining awareness of testing alternatives to select the most effective approach.
5. Lead investigations to assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives, identifying and implementing improvements.
6. Document and communicate risks associated with test strategies and plans to clients, users, and colleagues, managing these risks proactively.
7. Mentor Test Analysts within the team.

About you

1. Organize and document techniques and methods to facilitate structured application development, increasingly adopting a DEVOPS approach where development and operational staff collaborate.
2. Proficient in collecting, analyzing, and applying historical test data and estimations.
3. Skilled in managing testing processes and executing tests throughout project lifecycles, including standards for planning, estimating, configuration, incident management, and measuring test efficiency and effectiveness.
4. Experienced in assessing and managing business risks.
5. Expertise in standards, practices, and certification programs related to testing.
6. Experience leading teams using automated testing tools.
7. Possess specialist knowledge in specific functions, technologies, or automation tools.
8. Experience testing systems and applications within the protection business domain.
