Role Purpose
To take ownership of ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across key business systems and reports. This role plays a vital part in maintaining confidence in our transactional and reporting data by identifying issues, coordinating resolution efforts, and helping to implement long-term improvements. Working closely with other departments, data owners, and technical teams, the Data Issue Resolution Lead will act as a central contact point for report data-related issuesensuring swift resolution and continuous enhancement of practises where necessary.
Operational
Key Tasks
- Identifying Data Issues
- Catalogue reported data issue and proactively monitor business reports and transactional data to detect anomalies, inaccuracies, or inconsistencies.
- Use predefined rules, queries, and validation checks to flag discrepancies such as missing data, duplicates, or invalid entries.
- Investigate and verify issues reported by users or detected through automated systems.
- Root Cause Analysis
- Trace issues back to their sourcebe it system errors, manual input, or process gaps.
- Collaborate with relevant department heads to highlight and understand how and why the issue occurred.
- Liaise with functional heads to highlight recurring issues or data entry patterns that require intervention or process redesign.
- Business Liaison and Collaboration
- Act as the go-to point for data issues from the reporting team.
- Coordinate issue resolution efforts with IT, Operations, Finance, and other teams.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders to clarify ownership and agree corrective actions.
- Data Correction and Maintenance
- Correct errors within systems where appropriate or liaise with other departments to correct errors within systems, ensuring any changes are well documented.
- Work with system administrators or developers to implement more complex corrections where technical intervention is required.
- Test and validate corrections to confirm successful resolution.
- Reporting and Communication
- Provide updates to the requesting users and relevant stakeholders on the progress and resolution of issues.
- Compile summaries of root causes and resolutions, along with trends and insights for ongoing improvements.
- Documentation & Records
- Maintain a record of identified issues, actions taken, and resolutions.
- Document repeatable processes for resolving common data errors.
Required
Skills and Experience
- Good understanding of finance, travel or reporting systems
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a data-focused role such as data stewardship, governance, business analysis, or systems/data support.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, or other tools used for data validation and analysis.
- Experience in the travel, hospitality, or bookings industry.
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Thoughtspot).
- Experience working in an environment with complex or high-volume transactional data.
