Job description

Logistics Operations Officer

Job Status: Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking an ambitious and analytical Logistics Operations specialist for a broad logistics, distribution, and supply chain role with a leading European business. The role involves joining a growing EMEA logistics and supply chain team, focusing on logistics operations. This is a key operational position, ideal for someone aiming to develop and progress their logistics career across various areas including demand planning, materials handling, logistics operations, high-volume European distribution, customer support/service, and e-commerce.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient supply, storage, and movement of goods, supporting customer order fulfillment, and driving continuous improvement in planning and logistics processes. The role requires close collaboration with suppliers, freight forwarders, internal stakeholders, and 3PL partners, particularly within high-volume e-commerce environments and fast-growth distribution channels across the UK and EU.

Key Responsibilities
Demand & Supply Planning
  • Maintain accurate forecasts across key categories, collaborating with sales and account teams to validate pipelines.
  • Monitor seasonal demand patterns and new client onboarding to ensure materials availability.
  • Analyze and respond to exception reports such as forecast errors and inventory constraints.
Logistics & Distribution Operations
  • Coordinate inbound logistics with freight providers and 3PL partners to optimize delivery timelines and costs.
  • Prioritize inbound shipments to align with customer demand and reduce storage costs at port.
  • Support logistics execution and ensure visibility of inbound stock via ERP systems.
Stock & Inventory Management
  • Develop stock plans to support client demand, seasonal peaks, and promotional activities.
  • Manage purchase orders from creation to goods receipt, ensuring accurate ERP updates.
  • Monitor inventory health, including slow movers, shortages, and obsolescence risks.
Systems & Data Analysis
  • Leverage ERP systems (preferably Infor LN) to run MRP and support data-driven purchasing and stocking decisions.
  • Use Excel and other data tools for supply chain performance analysis (pivot tables, lookups, trend analysis).
  • Participate in S&OP cycles and provide actionable insights from data analytics.
Requirements
  • Experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations, ideally within high-growth or high-volume e-commerce environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, Odoo, or Dynamics.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
  • Data analysis skills to support customer success, reporting, inventory, demand, and materials planning.
  • Exposure to materials planning and inventory control, including forecasting and order execution.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU logistics networks.
  • Customer service experience within a supply chain or logistics setting.
Desirable
  • Background in automotive, industrial manufacturing (electronics, machinery, tools, fasteners), or high-volume consumer goods (B2B preferred).
  • E-commerce experience across multi-channel retail or digital platforms.
  • Experience with Infor LN, Magento, or Zoho is a plus but not essential.
  • Italian language skills would be advantageous due to the warehouse location in Italy.
