Assistant Director: Prevention (Public HealthConsultant)

Salary: Up to £91,836 annum plus apro rata premium to reflect public health consultant pay scale andexcellent benefits.

Contract: Permanent

Hours Per week: 37.5 hoursper week

About the role

A unique opportunity to lead aninfluential and leading-edge portfolio of work to position the HealthFoundation as a leading voice on public health and prevention policy andpractice in the UK. You will ensure the Foundation delivers a strong portfolioof in-house research, commissioned work and convening activities to ensure theFoundation makes relevant, timely and innovative contributions and commentaryto UK prevention policy and practice. This includes work across local, regionaland national government, as well as in the NHS and wider health and publichealth landscape.

  • Set an ambitious strategy for the Health Foundation’s preventionand public health agenda by engaging with new frontiers in public health andprevention, this may include areas such as the wider determinants of health,commercial determinants of health, risk factors for ill health, andpersonalised prevention including the role of technology, AI andgenomics.
  • Maintainour position as a trusted voice on policy on risk factors including tobacco,obesity, and alcohol and develop our positions in light of externalenvironment
  • Provideexpert input to the Health Foundation’s understanding and influencing of therole of the NHS in prevention, including primary care and integrated caresystems.
  • Provideprofessional advice to shape the Foundation’s work on analysis of healthtrends, ensuring the work delivers novel insights and producing expertcommentary when required.
  • Provide motivating leadership to a team of public healthprofessionals and multi-disciplinary colleagues from across the Foundation.
