We are looking for a Content Editor to join the Liverpool Echo. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Content Editor seeking a new challenge or a senior reporter aiming to advance their journalism career.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

• Supporting reporters to produce engaging content across words, images, video, data, and interactives to maximize audience engagement.
• Managing the publishing of accurate, legal, and engaging news and lifestyle content.
• Using your news sense to launch and maintain live coverage of major stories.
• Leading and inspiring your team to pitch and craft compelling stories.
• Overseeing our websites and social media channels, developing our social strategy.
• Developing our Customer Value Strategy, focusing on newsletters and audience loyalty.
• This role involves shift work, including evenings and weekends, requiring flexibility.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

• An experienced senior journalist with Senior NCTJ/NQJ Level 6 qualification or equivalent and extensive UK media law knowledge.
• A proven track record in digital news content creation in fast-paced environments.
• A first-class writer and storyteller with understanding of audience engagement strategies.
• Knowledge of SEO, search, social media, and digital audience behavior.
• Social media savvy, experienced with platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok.
• Prior management experience or eagerness to step into a leadership role.
• Excellent local knowledge to inform content decisions.
