Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a Lead Electronic Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Basildon. In this role, you will develop innovative hardware solutions, including designing in-house PCBs, and support systems engineers in defining requirements and architecture. You will also assist in integrating hardware, firmware, and software, while actively participating in qualification activities. Lead Electronic Design Engineer

Location: Basildon

Pay: Up to 70p/h (Inside IR35)

Responsibilities:

• Develop hardware solutions, including designing in-house PCBs.
• Support Systems Engineers in developing requirements and architecture.
• Assist in the integration of hardware, firmware, and software.
• Participate in qualification activities.
• Contribute to trials and proving activities.
• Document and record work products, manage configurations, and provide plans and progress reports.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers to resolve technical issues.

Experience required:

• Minimum of a BTEC, HND, or Apprenticeship in Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of all stages of the engineering development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with circuit design (schematic capture) and simulation tools.
• Practical experience with hardware, firmware, and software integration of microprocessor-based designs.
• Experience integrating in-house designs with COTS modules (power supplies, single board computers, RF interfaces).
• Practical experience in debugging, testing, and verifying new designs.
• A structured approach to the full hardware design lifecycle, following a structured hardware process.
• Knowledge of DFx, specifically Design for EMC.
• Ability to schedule work and manage time effectively to meet project timescales and budgets.
