About the Role:

Effective Risk Management is a core value at the centre of the platform. It involves continuous identification and understanding of relevant risks, assessment, and evaluation of the adequacy of controls in line with risk appetites, and implementing improvements where needed. First line risk management requires a comprehensive understanding of risk practices, overlaid on operational processes.

The role holder will act as a key point between the 1st and 2nd line, ensuring risk events are managed effectively and audit actions are completed timely. They will help deliver departmental and individual targets within set timescales and standards. Applying technical knowledge and innovative, solution-based thinking will be crucial.

Additionally, the role involves building a strong risk culture and supporting Operations and Senior Leaders in understanding and managing risk practically and effectively.

A positive attitude and interest in financial services will help you succeed. Relevant experience or qualifications are advantageous, but comprehensive training will be provided.

  • Support the design and implementation of a first line risk function within Operations
  • Assist Operations in achieving process improvements related to risk management, including:
  • Operational control/regulatory adherence
  • Breach log maintenance
  • 1st Line Risk Reporting
  • Managing Audit/Risk Incident Actions
  • 1st line monitoring reviews
  • Support risk escalations and queries
  • Coach individuals and lead risk training sessions
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Prepare and deliver risk reports to senior management and the Board
  • Liaise with 2nd line risk functions and operational teams on risk activities
  • Perform trend analysis on breaches and near misses, providing guidance and process revision suggestions
  • Maintain skills to meet Training and Competence standards
  • Support monthly breach reviews with 2nd line functions
  • Assist with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) work as needed

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong operational knowledge, including CASS, especially CASS 6 and 7
  • Experience in Risk Management practices
  • In-depth financial services experience, particularly with wrap platforms
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ownership and accountability
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Innovative problem-solving and influencing skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Relevant industry qualifications such as CISI Risk in Financial Services, Operational Risk, or CII CF2
