Job Description: Credit Risk Manager

Business Unit: Chief Credit Office

Salary Range: £58,400 - £73,000 per annum DOE + benefits

Location: UK Flexible

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

The Secured Credit Risk team plays a pivotal role in shaping our retail mortgage credit risk strategy and portfolio management. The Secured Portfolio Performance and Insight team, part of the broader Secured Credit Risk team, is responsible for credit risk reporting, portfolio insights, arrears, and loss forecasting.

We are seeking a Credit Risk Manager to join our team. The role involves managing credit risk reporting, portfolio analysis, and providing insights and recommendations to influence mortgage lending strategies and support risk management leadership and committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing a high-performing team, delivering impactful credit risk reports and insights, and coaching team development.
  • Managing deep dive assessments and portfolio insights to identify risks and opportunities, presenting findings effectively.
  • Developing and delivering Credit Risk Appetite Statement metrics aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Monitoring external developments and benchmarking against industry peers.
  • Ensuring high standards in analysis quality through robust quality control processes.
  • Translating business needs into analytical tasks using SAS and other tools, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Utilizing new data sources to enhance insights and working with stakeholders to ensure data understanding.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, presenting complex findings clearly.
  • Driving continuous improvement, process rationalization, and automation of credit risk MI.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong knowledge of MI development, portfolio assessment, and analytical techniques.
  • Extensive credit risk experience, with proficiency in SAS and SQL.
  • Leadership experience in guiding analytics teams and projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven track record in creating efficient reporting solutions and driving improvements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate complex matters succinctly.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on understanding trends from first principles.
  • Experience in influencing change and implementing practical solutions.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in credit risk portfolio management or strategy.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in portfolio monitoring.
  • Skills in Python, R, or other data management tools.
