Our award-winning Business and Investor Advisory (BIA) team, recognized as the European Technical Advisor of the Year for the last four years, is seeking a professionally qualified consultant to work on various projects, primarily in the nuclear energy sector. We need a consultant with sound technical and commercial expertise to support and lead nuclear advisory projects and promote knowledge of nuclear energy projects across the firm.
The candidate will join an established and award-winning advisory consulting team working on UK and international assignments in power generation and bioenergy. Our projects range from small-scale distributed generation to large multi-utility portfolios across broad geographies. Technologies and markets include nuclear energy, biomass, biofuels, geothermal, waste-to-energy (including incineration, gasification, pyrolysis), waste treatment, and district heating/cogeneration facilities.
We seek an experienced Consultant to focus on advisory projects in the nuclear sector, contributing across power, bioenergy, and energy transition sectors (including distributed energy, hydrogen, thermal power, cogeneration, waste, and bioenergy). The ideal candidate will have experience in providing consulting or advisory services covering technical, environmental, economic, commercial, and operational issues.
The applicant should be familiar with market standards regarding key delivery roles (investors, developers, EPC and O&M contractors, OEMs), contracting models (e.g., NEC4), good practice design and specifications, regulatory and nuclear safety considerations, and risk mitigation strategies. Arup has key advisory roles in all major UK nuclear new build projects, including the deployment of new Small Modular Reactors, and the candidate may be expected to provide senior technical and commercial advice on these or other nuclear projects.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective where individuality thrives. Our strength comes from respecting, sharing, and connecting diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas. You will have opportunities to do socially useful work that matters to Arup, your career, our members, clients, and communities.
This role involves project management of consulting or advisory projects, supporting advisory teams with technical and/or commercial expertise. Responsibilities include producing technical and commercial deliverables such as reports, presentations, specifications, advisory notes, and due diligence reports. You will review or write technical reports, drawings, specifications, and contracts, and liaise with specialists to advise on risk mitigation.
You will also review and contribute technical and commercial inputs into business plans, meet with clients to present findings, and participate in business development activities, including bid preparation and securing new commissions in the nuclear sector. Travel opportunities within the UK and abroad may be available.
