Our award-winning Business and Investor Advisory (BIA) team, recognized as the European Technical Advisor of the Year for the last four years, is seeking to recruit a professionally qualified consultant to work on a variety of projects, primarily in the nuclear energy sector. We require a consultant with sound technical and commercial expertise to support and lead nuclear advisory projects and promote knowledge of nuclear energy projects across the firm.
The candidate would join an established and award-winning advisory consulting team working on UK and international assignments in power generation and bioenergy sectors. Our mandates range from small-scale distributed generation to multi-utility portfolios across large geographies. The technologies and markets covered include nuclear energy, biomass and biofuels, geothermal energy, waste-to-energy (including incineration, gasification, and pyrolysis), mechanical and biological treatment of waste, and district heating/cogeneration facilities and networks.
We are seeking an experienced Consultant to work on advisory projects focusing on the nuclear sector, contributing to projects across power, bioenergy, and energy transition sectors (including distributed energy, hydrogen, thermal power, cogeneration, waste, and bioenergy). The ideal candidate will have a background in providing consulting or advisory services covering technical, environmental, economic, commercial, and operational issues.
The applicant should be broadly familiar with market standards for key delivery roles (investors, developers, EPC and O&M contractors, equipment OEMs, etc.), contracting models (e.g., NEC4), good practice design and specification, regulatory and nuclear safety considerations, and experience in delivering or advising on risk mitigations. Arup is involved in all major nuclear new build projects in the UK, including the deployment of new Small Modular Reactor projects, and the candidate may be expected to provide senior technical and commercial advice on these or other nuclear projects.

Additional responsibilities include reviewing and providing technical and commercial input into business plans, such as operating inputs (availability, thermal efficiency) and costs. You will meet clients to present findings and discuss new opportunities, including preparing bids to secure new nuclear sector projects and engaging in business development activities through your external network.
