Essential criteria include empathy, board experience, knowledge of governance, strategic and financial expertise, partnership skills, accountability, understanding of legal duties, change management, and experience of collaborative working. Competencies involve sound judgment, strategic communication, ethical data use, influence, objectivity, and cross-organizational work.
