Accelerant connects selected specialty insurance underwriters ("Members") with risk capital partners through its data-driven risk exchange (the “Risk Exchange”). The Company, together with its risk capital partners, provide property and casualty insurance to policyholders via its network of Members, which are typically Managing General Agents ("MGAs"). The Company focuses on small-to-medium sized commercial clients primarily in the United States, Europe, Canada and the United Kingdom. Our MGA Operations division includes a portfolio of owned MGAs across the US, UK, and Europe, each operating with entrepreneurial independence but supported by shared services and oversight.
Position Overview
Accelerant is looking for a hands-on Controller to manage accounting and financial reporting prepared by our owned MGAs. Key aspects of this role will include:
- Ensuring the owned MGAs periodic financial closes produce accurate and timely results.

- Continuing to strengthen internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
- Promoting and driving toward greater consistency in process and controls amongst the owned MGA finance teams.
- Supporting diligence and integration of MGA acquisitions.
We see this role as a great fit for someone who enjoys working with multiple contacts across a variety of businesses and possesses a strong desire to build scalable processes in a fast-growing, decentralized environment.

- Support internal and external audits, acting as a key point of contact for MGA-level audit deliverables.
Process & Policy Harmonization
- Promote consistent accounting practices and documentation standards across the finance functions of our owned MGAs.
- Serve as a resource for MGA finance teams on US GAAP accounting treatment, controls, and system usage.
- Partner with the finance systems team to improve efficiency and data quality across the close process.
- Provide mentorship and oversight to small, local finance teams at the MGA level.
- Act as a hands-on partner, assisting with technical accounting, process questions, and issue resolution.
Project & Strategic Support
- Actively participate in and support the onboarding and integration of newly acquired MGAs.
- Support and contribute to the purchase accounting prepared by the Group consolidation team.
- Promote and drive finance transformation initiatives across the Owned MGA portfolio.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead by example as it relates to active and effective collaboration between previously disparate teams and functions.
- Self-starter mindset with a willingness to roll up sleeves.
Preferred Qualifications
