Job Description
Purpose: Responsible for maintenance and repair work on site. This is to ensure all site is maintained to the required standard and to support running of the site. May move to a dual or multi-skilled role depending upon vacancies, training, competence, and experience.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours, 8am-4pm
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Key Accountabilities: Raise relevant work permit requests, accept and follow the permit, isolation procedure, and other related safe systems of work to complete the task.
- Complete and/or contribute to risk assessments associated with all maintenance duties expected for the role.
- Identify and rectify failures in service and equipment defects related to your specific trade, training, and development.
- Complete scheduled maintenance as per the company maintenance plan to support the running of the production site.
- Work to company standards and procedures to ensure maintenance tasks are executed to the required quality standard, minimizing impact on production and maximizing plant availability.
- Develop and review maintenance procedures to keep information accurate, complete, and relevant.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at improving safety, environmental, equipment availability, and efficiency performance.
- Undertake any other duties within the scope of your skills, experience, and position in the company.
SHEQ Management
- Ensure all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met during maintenance tasks.
- Carry out work safely and according to company guidelines.
- Ensure job is done right the first time to minimize rework.
- Report any accidents or near misses as per health and safety policy.
Equipment Management
- Fault finding and activities to reduce equipment failure.
Team Building & Incentive
- Maintain KPI’s such as schedule achievement, right first time, and mean time to repair/maintain.
Communication
- Communicate and coordinate with production departments.
- Provide technical expertise and updates in customer calls and meetings.
Confidentiality
- Follow corporate regulations to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Essential - Time served Maintenance Technician.
- Key Interactions: Direction from Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, Peers, Mechanical Chargehand, Senior Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Maintenance Apprentice, mentoring potential Mechanical Maintenance Apprentice.
- Key Skills: Mechanical fitter background or strong mechanical skills with an instrument or electrical trade background, ideally within the chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas industry. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a 24/7 role. Familiar with computer use for maintenance activities. Experience as a multi-skilled Maintenance Technician is advantageous.
