Job description

Applications for this post are invited from Clinical Scientists with an appetite to address the challenges of service growth and improvement, underpinned by experience in Radiation Protection, Diagnostic Radiology, and Quality Assurance. As a member of the Radiology Physics Group, the post holder will be part of the Diagnostic Radiology Sub-group, delivering high-quality Radiation Protection, Quality Assurance, and scientific support services to Radiology departments within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other NHS and commercial organizations within South Yorkshire and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the delivery of efficient, high-quality Radiation Protection, Quality Assurance, and imaging by developing specific software across the Radiology Physics Section to support growth and development of imaging modalities.
  2. Participate in Group services to support clinical developments.
  3. Support research, development programs, and contribute to teaching and training activities.
  4. Assist Radiation Protection Advisers in providing quality assured radiation protection services for ionising radiations across various customer bases, including NHS Trusts, private institutions, educational premises, and commercial organizations.
  5. Provide radiation protection advice to service purchasers, traceable to a Radiation Protection Adviser or Medical Physics Expert.
  6. Support technical staff in delivering quality assured radiation protection services.
Candidate Requirements
  1. Completed the Scientific Training Program and accredited with the HCPC, or close to completing and registering with the HCPC, or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  2. Candidates with less experience, not yet HCPC-registered, may be appointed at a lower grade until registration is achieved.
  3. Applicants should be prepared to support a banding starting at Band 6, with the possibility of Band 7 depending on skills and experience.
