Job Band: D

Salary: £42,300 - £49,367 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: Permanent role full-time role

Location: Main base is Cardiff. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with operational commitments as across Wales and Wider Wales sites.

Job Introduction

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking for a dynamic role in the media industry?

Join our Operations team at BBC Wales as an Operational Team Leader. In addition to being an Operational member of the camera team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of our Camera Team across Wales, servicing production requirements across a range of locations and genres, including News.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will report to the Operations Executive and be responsible for the following duties:

  • Operational Planning: Work with the planning and scheduling team to coordinate technical and staffing needs for complex programs.
  • Central Communication: Main contact for the camera team and Operations Executive for camera related matters.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide creative guidance and ensure staff welfare.
  • Issue Resolution: Address technical, operational, and staffing issues.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with production areas.
  • Innovation: Implement new working methods.
  • Positive Environment: Promote an inclusive working environment.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to dynamic business needs.
  • Project Work: Contribute to technical projects.
  • Forecasting: Assist with forecasting and business planning.
  • Training and Mentoring: Train, coach, and mentor staff.
  • Technical Advice: Provide technical support to staff.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
  • Collaboration: Work with various roles to deliver high-quality content.
