At Co-op, we do things differently. For over 175 years, we’ve been focused on making things fairer for our members and their communities, and as a colleague, we promise to take care of you. You’ll get support for your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, as well as market-leading policies to help you through life events from bereavement and pregnancy loss to fertility treatment and menopause.
What you’ll do

  • Develop your team's capabilities through coaching and training, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone's voice is valued and respected
  • Ensure the store remains safe, legal, and fully operational
  • Manage diligence checks and stock accuracy to enhance the shopping experience for customers
  • Support your store manager by deputising when they’re not present and assisting with HR processes
  • Lead the introduction of new products and services, working closely with your team to implement change and gather feedback
  • Build relationships and engage with your local community, supporting the delivery of the local Co-op community plan

  • The ability to balance leading and supporting your team while working on the shop floor
  • Excellent people skills to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A desire to learn, grow, and develop leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts

  • A pension scheme with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Wagestream – a money management app allowing access to a portion of your pay as you earn it
  • 36 days of holiday (including bank holidays, pro-rata for part-time colleagues)
  • Virtual healthcare services for you and your family, including GP appointments, eye care, mental health support, and nutrition & fitness consultations
  • 24/7 employee assistance service
  • Rota sharing three weeks in advance accessible via your phone
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
