Job Description:

Amazon is seeking a talented and business-oriented EU Operations Project Engineer to coordinate the planning and execution of logistic process solutions for the continued expansion of our EU Customer Fulfillment network.

Ideal candidates will have first Project Management experience combined with an established technical problem-solving ability. The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfillment Center, focusing on automation technologies (conveyance, sortation, robotics) and storage solutions. Responsibilities include delivering small and medium-sized state-of-the-art material handling systems, technology innovations, commissioning & qualification, and collaborating with internal teams and external contractors to launch new Fulfillment Centers and expand existing sites, from defining business requirements to final handover to Operations and Maintenance teams. The candidate will own safety interventions, and lead or contribute to sustainability and quality initiatives.

Key job responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Safety and Sustainability building requirements
• End-to-end ownership of small to medium engineering projects (scheduling, resource planning, installation, commissioning, qualification, launch, and ramp-up support)
• Lead technical design reviews (2D & 3D) and propose solutions for material handling and storage that meet business needs and design standards
• Support and track CAPEX requests to ensure projects are within budget and deliver value
• Coordinate critical path items, analyze technical details, and propose solutions to issues
• Track project status, communicate updates, and escalate risks as needed
• Conduct weekly meetings with vendors and contractors to plan and track deliverables
• Manage purchase orders and change requests with Procurement and Change Management teams
• Ensure quality of installation, compliance with design during commissioning and qualification activities
• Collaborate with teams such as Engineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability Maintenance, Procurement, and Change Management

A day in the life

You will work on delivering Amazon Fulfillment Centers with a project lifecycle of about a year as part of a high-performing team. Early phases involve design and bidding, primarily from an office or home. During execution, you will spend about 50% of your time on-site, especially during installation, commissioning, and ramp-up. The role offers the rewarding experience of launching or upgrading Fulfillment Centers. Responsibilities will increase over time, including leading other business tasks, supported by your team, respecting diverse viewpoints, and fostering inclusion.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts
• Project/Program management experience in industrial environments
• Proficiency in MS Excel, CAD/BIM software, MS Project
• Good communication skills in native language and English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of automated material handling, packaging, and storage solutions
• Experience in construction (new build) or operational buildout projects
• Understanding of operational, reliability, and maintenance processes, including relevant software tools
• Additional languages such as German, French, Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu are preferred
