A forward-thinking organization is seeking Volunteer Recovery Workers to support individuals in their recovery journey. This role involves mentoring service users who are nearing the end of their treatment, helping them to remain abstinent and sharing your own experiences. You will be part of a compassionate team, providing valuable support and guidance while gaining hands-on experience in the field. This opportunity not only allows you to make a significant impact in the lives of others but also helps you build your skills and knowledge in recovery support. If you have a passion for helping others and possess lived experience in recovery, we would love to hear from you.
Coming toward the end of their treatment and out of our service can be very difficult for some of our service users. You can make a difference.
As a Volunteer Recovery Worker with Change Grow Live, you’ll work with people who use our services, helping them get to where they want to be. They will be in abstinent based recovery and coming to the end of their treatment journey with us as a service.
With this role you’ll be working as part of our Peterborough team, based in Fletton and central Peterborough.
The team supports people with their drug and alcohol misuse from start of their recovery journey through to psychosocial interventions, detox, rehab, getting stability and into ongoing abstinent based recovery.
No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.
We are looking for volunteers to support service users in the final aspect of their recovery journey. To hold a very small caseload of abstinent service users coming toward the end of their treatment with us at Aspire. You will be mentoring and supporting them in our abstinent based hub in Peterborough for 3 - 6 months supporting them to remain abstinent and sharing your own experience, hope and strength with them and encouraging them until they are ready to leave the service.
Lived experience of recovery from substance misuse is essential, you will have a strong foundation for your own recovery and experience of detox and or rehab.
We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision, and have someone on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance. In return for the time you give you will receive valuable training and gain experience and skills. You’ll be making a real difference too.
This is a great way to build experience in this field of work should you wish to follow this route in the future.
This is what two of our Volunteer Recovery Coordinators had to say
“Seeing people move in their treatment journey and seeing a zest in life coming back in their lives is so rewarding”.
Our values are to be compassionate, open and bold. If this sounds like you we’d love to hear from you so click apply.
