Job description

Reliability Engineer (Controls and Automation)

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Reliability Engineer with a strong background in Controls and Automation to join our dynamic team at Bellshill. The role is critical to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing operations by driving proactive maintenance strategies, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and leading the integration of advanced automation technologies. You'll have the overall aim of improving plant reliability with a focus on obsolescence of existing technology and replacement with new solutions. You will also support the Bottling Team Leaders in the leadership and development of the Maintenance team.

What you’ll be doing
  1. Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies to increase the reliability of controls and automation equipment.
  2. Create detailed I/O lists and wiring diagrams for current installations to improve troubleshooting efficiency.
  3. Develop plans for the replacement of obsolete electrical components across bottling assets.
  4. Lead reliability projects focused on instrumentation and automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and operational IT networks.
  5. Introduce new technology to production to improve performance and collaborate with the projects team to enhance system integration.
  6. Provide day-to-day technical support for team leaders and technicians, acting as the lead coordinator for escalating maintenance or breakdown support.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Automation engineering is desirable but not essential.
  2. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong working knowledge of controls and automation standards and systems.
  3. Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Siemens, B&R, Allen Bradley).
  4. Qualified to at least HNC/HND level in an engineering discipline.
  5. Previous experience within an RCM-driven environment.
  6. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and Continuous Improvement techniques.
  7. Experience with technical aspects relevant to an FMCG environment.
  8. Proven leadership skills, capable of setting objectives, managing team performance, and developing individuals to their full potential.
