Environmental Health Officer, Ashton-under-Lyne

Join the Public Protection Team at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council as an Environmental Health Officer. This is a permanent position based at Tame Street Depot, Tame Street, Stalybridge, SK15 1ST.

Salary: Grade H, Scale 29 - £38,626 to Scale 34 - £43,693, with a professional bar at SCP 31 (£40,476).

Hours per week: 36 hours

Key Responsibilities:

• Achieve proactive and reactive work programmes in food hygiene, health and safety, infectious disease, complaint investigations, and statutory enforcement.
• Work alongside experienced officers to provide a sustainable regulatory service.
• Inspect high-risk and complex food processes, ensuring compliance with food standards.

Candidate Requirements:

• Completed Environmental Health Practitioner Portfolio and registered with CIEH.
• Experience in food safety, health and safety, and infectious disease control.
• Approachable, with excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
