Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc in Redcar and Cleveland is seeking an experienced E&I Construction Manager to lead the electrical and instrumentation scope for the Net Zero Teesside project. You will oversee design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities and drive delivery on a landmark decarbonisation initiative.

This role demands strong safety leadership, effective interface management with process licensors and civil/structural teams, and the ability to report progress, risks and forecasts

As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic E&I Construction Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Role Purpose

As an E&I Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of the Electrical and Instrumentation aspects of the project including engineering, design, procurement, construction and commissioning and completion/handover.

What you'll be doing

• Review and approve engineering deliverables related to electrical and instrumentation for carbon capture systems.
• Demonstrate appropriate Health and Safety leadership to ensure that the safety first and foremost message is visible and alive throughout all activities relating to the project.
• To lead by example and ensure 100% focus on safety across the project
• Manage design interfaces between process licensors, civil/structural teams, and BBK's MEP scope.
• Provide constructability reviews and value engineering input during design development.
• Lead the planning and sequencing of installation works for carbon capture equipment.
• Ensure integration of mechanical and electrical systems into plant modules or site-built systems.
• Support commissioning planning and interface with commissioning engineers.
• Review supplier technical submissions and ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Manage variations and change control for carbon capture scope.
• Ensure safe design and installation methods are adopted, in line with BBK's zero-harm culture.
• Review risk assessments and method statements for carbon capture works.
• Provide regular progress reports, forecasts, and risk updates to project leadership.
• Represent BBK in technical meetings and industry forums related to CCUS.
• Adopt and proactively demonstrate a "Right First Time" ethos
