Job summary

Valence School in the United Kingdom is seeking a dedicated Teaching Cover Supervisor to support learning when teachers are absent and to help maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement. You will supervise classes, assist students with their learning, and work with staff across the Education Team to ensure smooth delivery of learning activities.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics.
• Confident communicator with excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Willing to learn specialised systems and software.
• HLTA qualification and SEN experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of a teacher, ensuring students remain engaged in learning activities.
• Use initiative and creativity to support learning and maintain positive classroom environments.
• Work closely with teachers and colleagues to deliver lessons effectively and provide appropriate support.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement, progress and issues during cover lessons.
• Maintain safe, inclusive learning environments that support wellbeing and achievement.
• Invigilate internal and external assessments and examinations as required.
• Promote safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and positive behaviour in line with school policies.
