Job summary

The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist on a bank basis to cover shifts and support inpatient services.

As part of a multidisciplinary Rehabilitation team, you will assess, plan and deliver evidence-based therapy, educate patients and families, and ensure high-quality documentation. HCPC registration and 5+ years in acute care are required, with salary up to £25 per hour.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Minimum 5 years experience with acute medical patients.
• Experience with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
• Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed assessments of speech, language, communication and swallowing functions.
• Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patient goals, including communication and dysphagia management.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, dietitian, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology teams for coordinated care.
• Educate patients, families and carers about therapy strategies and safe swallowing practices.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HCPC and organisational policies.
• Support use of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) tools and resources.
