Choice Teachers are assisting a number of secondary schools in the Chorley, Leyland and Wigan areas who are looking for long term teaching assistants for the new academic year starting September 2026. Many roles will run until at least Christmas, with potential to extend to the end of the academic year.

Roles typically follow school days from about 8.30am to 3.15pm with a 30–60 minute lunch. The agency seeks TA candidates with either a Level 1–3 TA qualification, a degree, or experience in

Qualifications

• Educated to A-level or Degree level is desired.
• DBS Certificate on the update service or able to obtain one.
• Two professional references.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential.

• Be comfortable working in the classroom, managing a classroom and ensuring learners stay on task.
• Able to create a positive learning environment with strong classroom management.
• Able to provide support to learners.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Be confident and enthusiastic with a passion for teaching.
• Adaptable and flexible, able to work at short notice and travel to schools quickly.
• Be able to manage large groups of students, including those with challenging behaviour.
• Work on your own initiative.
• Have an excellent level of spoken English and understanding of English.
