Job summary

Monarch Education is recruiting for Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools in Bridgwater and surrounding areas. Start in September with both full-time and part-time opportunities available.

You will supervise classes, deliver pre-prepared work, manage behaviour, and maintain a calm, inclusive learning environment across Key Stage 3 and 4. Ideal for graduates, teaching assistants, or experienced youth workers exploring teaching roles.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in a school, coaching, tutoring, youth work or similar setting is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
• Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to complete registration, compliance and safeguarding checks

Responsibilities

• Supervising classes across a range of secondary school subjects
• Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils remain on task
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Supporting pupils with instructions and activities where appropriate
• Creating a calm, inclusive and purposeful learning environment
• Reporting back to teaching staff on pupil engagement and any issues
• Supporting pupils of varying abilities and learning needs
• Assisting with general school duties where required
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Following safeguarding procedures and school expectations at all times
