Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment Ltd. is seeking experienced Secondary Cover Supervisors for North Somerset, starting September 2026. Roles range from daily supply to longer placements across various secondary schools, with flexible options depending on your availability.

You will oversee classes when the regular teacher is absent, follow pre-prepared plans, and maintain a safe, orderly learning environment while supporting students’ progress. Competitive daily rates offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-age students.
• Experience in education roles such as Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or HLTA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and clearly communicate instructions.
• Manage classroom behaviour firmly, fairly and consistently.
• Maintain a safe, structured and productive learning environment.
• Monitor student engagement and ensure work is completed.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with teaching staff and school leaders.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
