Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Music and Arts) to support inclusive arts education within the Arts Team. The role focuses on helping students access creative subjects through adapted, accessible learning, alongside Arts Teachers.

The successful candidate will contribute to planning, facilitation and assessment of artistic projects and will foster creative expression, cultural understanding and confidence in students with SEND. Term-time hours apply.

Qualifications

• Passion for music and arts education.
• Experience playing a musical instrument.
• Experience using music technology.
• Ability to employ a wide variety of communication strategies.
• Confident in supporting young people with a range of learning needs through music and the arts.
• Able to engage and motivate students.
• Flexibility to work across the whole college.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Able to use initiative and work effectively in a team.
• Able to step in and lead lessons on occasions.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of inclusive, high-quality arts education.
• Assist planning, facilitation and assessment of artistic projects, performances, exhibitions, rehearsals and lessons.
