Job summary

GSL Education in Redcar and Cleveland is seeking a Creative Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. You will help with classroom activities, support pupils' learning and assist with creative subjects across art, music, drama and crafts.

The role includes 1:1 and small-group support, working with SEND/SEMH needs, and contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment. A DBS update and checkable references are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, creative, community or educational setting.
• A passion for art, music, drama, crafts, design or other creative activities.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Salary: £90-£120 per day, dependent on experience

A welcoming and supportive school in Redcar and Cleveland is seeking a creative, enthusiastic and dedicated Creative Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for creativity, the arts and working with children and young people to use their skills to support pupils' learning, confidence and personal development.

As a Creative Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide classroom assistance, lead engaging creative activities and support pupils through art, music, drama, crafts and other practical learning experiences. The role may also involve 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support across a range of subjects and year groups.
• Plan and assist with engaging creative and practical learning activities.

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
• Support pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs.
• Encourage pupils to express themselves through creative activities.
• Promote confidence, communication, teamwork and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and learning resources.
• Support pupils who experience barriers to learning or behaviours that challenge.
• Encourage positive behaviour and active participation in classroom activities.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

The Ideal Creative Teaching Assistant Will Have

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, creative, community or educational setting.
• A passion for art, music, drama, crafts, design or other creative activities.
• A relevant qualification or experience in a creative subject would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• A patient, enthusiastic and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to use creativity to encourage pupil engagement and self-expression.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD or behaviours that challenge would be beneficial.
• A willingness to support classroom learning across different subjects.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• A fully checkable employment and reference history.
