Job summary

Astro Education is actively seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to work across partner primary schools in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding Staffordshire areas. Roles range from day-to-day supply to longer-term placements with competitive daily rates (£105–£115) and flexible opportunities.

Ideal candidates will have HLTA qualifications or substantial HLTA experience, strong classroom and behaviour management skills, and the ability to support pupils

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or have substantial relevant experience undertaking higher-level teaching assistant responsibilities.
• Have previous experience working within a UK primary school.
• Be able to lead whole-class learning and deliver lessons from teachers' planning.

Responsibilities

• Delivering pre-planned lessons to whole classes during teachers' PPA time, training and short-term absences.
• Providing effective classroom cover across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Leading targeted small-group and individual interventions in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
• Supporting teachers with planning, preparation and delivery of engaging learning activities.
• Supporting pupils with SEND, adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing constructive feedback to teaching staff.
• Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
