Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a History Teacher for a secondary school in Brighton. You will teach History across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging lessons that develop chronological understanding, source analysis and evidence-based arguments.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, with strong knowledge of KS3/KS4 content and classroom management. The position offers full-time permanent hours and a salary on the MPS1–UPS3 scale.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching History at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of KS3/KS4 History curriculum.
• Ability to teach source analysis and extended writing.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach a range of historical periods, events and significant individuals.
• Develop students' ability to analyse historical sources and interpret evidence.
• Support students in constructing clear, well-supported written arguments.
• Prepare students for GCSE assessments and examinations.
• Use varied teaching resources, including documents, images, timelines and case studies.
• Differentiate lessons to meet different abilities.
• Assess students' work and provide constructive feedback to improve progress.
• Encourage historical curiosity, discussion and independent research.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and departmental resources.
