Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Maths and English Tutor for an Alternative Provision setting in Blackpool. The role is temp-to-perm, with start on 2 November 2026, and flexible full-time or part-time arrangements.

You will deliver tailored sessions to KS3/KS4 students, using engaging, practical teaching to re-engage learners and build essential life skills. A DBS Update Service and references are required.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, QTLS, QTS) or a strong degree with tutoring experience.
• Experience in Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN settings, or delivering functional skills to disaffected learners.
• Demonstrated resilience, patience, and empathy; commitment to transforming learners' outcomes.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply) registered on Update Service with references from past 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver functional skills Maths and English lessons (Entry Level to Level 2) for AP students.
• Re-engage learners using creative, practical teaching approaches.
• Track progress, assess learning, and set achievable milestones.
• Maintain a calm, inclusive classroom with strong behavioural support.
• Collaborate with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support wellbeing and development.
