Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant for a primary school in BS22, Weston-super-Mare. This full-time role supports the EYFS team, helping children access learning through play and structured activities.

You'll work closely with the class teacher to develop early literacy and numeracy, support transitions, and contribute to observations under the EYFS framework, in a warm, active classroom that promotes safeguarding and development.

Qualifications

• Experience working with early years or primary aged children (essential).
• A warm, patient and encouraging approach.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and reliability.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Supporting the class teacher in delivering the EYFS curriculum.
• Helping children access learning through play-based and structured activities.
• Supporting development of early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Assisting with daily routines, transitions and independence skills.
• Supporting children's social, emotional and personal development.
• Working with small groups and individual children as needed.
• Creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing classroom environment.
• Contributing to observations and assessments in line with EYFS.
